SJ Architects is an international architecture and design studio specialising in high-end residential architecture and prime real estate. Founded in 2012 and backed by more than twenty years of European and international experience, the studio creates bespoke contemporary residences defined by context, proportion, materiality and a highly personal approach to design.
Maja Urh Jovanović & Sreten Jovanović
Maja Urh Jovanović and Sreten Jovanović are the principal architects behind SJ Architects, working together through a shared architectural vision and complementary areas of expertise.
Both graduated from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Architecture in 2003 and bring more than two decades of professional experience, much of it gained through international practice and work on projects across different markets.
Sreten’s work is primarily focused on the architectural development of projects — from the initial concept and spatial organisation to proportion, structure and the overall architectural expression. Maja leads the design direction, with a particular focus on interiors, materiality, atmosphere and the relationship between architecture and the way a space is experienced.
Their collaboration is at the core of SJ Architects. Every project is developed through continuous dialogue between architecture and design, allowing the studio to approach a building as a complete environment rather than a collection of separate disciplines.
Since establishing SJ Architects in 2012, they have focused increasingly on high-end residential architecture and bespoke private projects, combining European experience with an international perspective and a highly personal approach to each commission.
Together, they seek to create architecture that is precise in its concept, refined in its detail and deeply connected to the people and places it is designed for.
